Mystical Shangri-la

Shangri-la (also known as Zhōngdiàn) is home to remote temples, rugged scenery and the start of the Tibetan world.
It's the mythical paradise inspired by James Hilton's Lost Horizon.

Close to the Tibetan border, the town is an interesting mix of Tibetan, Han Chinese, and local Yunnan Naxi communities. This cultural mix, combined with traditional architecture and some dramatic, wild scenery, make it a great place to see a different side of Yunnan.
