Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Yuanjiajie Scenic Area

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Hunan - Yuanjiajie is a naturally formed platform mountain, surrounded by higher summits which are divided by deep valleys. Unique in their shapes and covered with pine trees, these rocks resemble a vivid Chinese painting. The area is reachable from the Tianzishan Scenic Area (Emperor Mountain) by bus in 40 minutes. Added to this scene is an array of amazing lesser peaks and grotesque rocks, each standing in the valley and possesses its own peculiar shape.

There are only two ways that lead to the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area: One is from the Golden Whip Stream via Luanchuanpo to the Back Garden; the other is the Bailong Elevator. By this super elevator, tourists can ascend to the top of a peak to get a commanding view of its famous scene - Shenbingjuhui (lit. God's Force Rally), the scene is also nicknamed the Fields and Gardens of the Heaven for its beautiful trees, ethnic houses and paddy fields on the high mountains.

The foremost attractions in this area include: Back Garden, breathtaking Mihun Stage and the First Bridge under the Sun. Yuanjiajie lies between Huangshi Village (yellow stone stronghold) and Tianzi Mountain (Emperor Mountain). From Zhangjiajie National Forest Park there are approaches to the Yuanjiajie.

The northern part of Yuanjiajie Scenic Area is the essential tourist route.

Close to nature.....visit "Shi Du"

Shi Du – the Ten Crossings are located about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing, on the upper reaches of the Juma River. To get from Zhangfang Village to Shi Du, it is necessary to cross the Juma River 10 times, which is how the spot got its name.

The scenic spot is filled with sparkling streams, marshy swampland and gushing springs. Adventure seekers can try horseback riding or bungee jumping. The earliest bungee jumping facilities in Beijing were built here, with one platform at 48 meters and another at 55 meters.

In Shi Du Scenic Spot, you can never miss the opportunity to climb mountains, play in the waters and ride horses.

Update on the bird flu virus from the China National Tourist Office - Los Angeles

H7N9 Bird Flu Virus -

- As a result of the transparent dissemination of information by the Chinese government, you may be aware from news sources that certain parts of eastern China have been affected by the H7N9 bird flu virus. While investigation is ongoing and significant progress has been achieved in determining the cause of the outbreak, the Chinese government continues to work very closely with the World Health Organization in stopping the spread of the virus. The government's prompt and proactive implementation of health safety measures have yielded positive results. In fact, the director of the influenza division at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention described the dramatic slowdown in the number of new cases in Shanghai as "very encouraging."

The World Health Organization has not issued an advisory limiting travel to and from China. It is watching the situation closely and "does not recommend any travel restrictions." Equally, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) "does not recommend that people delay or cancel trips to China."
